In July 1896, Manchester City Council's Parks Committee began prosecution proceedings against Emmeline Pankhurst (and others) following an event that took place in Boggart Hole Clough, Blackley. Emmeline Pankhurst was born on 15th July 1858. Every year, on the Sunday nearest to her birthday we throw a party to celebrate her birthday and the Women's Social and Political Union Emmeline founded here at 62 Nelson Street. Make some arts and crafts, enjoy a slice a cake and immerse yourself in this important place of herstory.
